Turks & Caicos

πŸ“ British Overseas Territory Β· Grace Bay Β· Providenciales
⭐ Research status: blank slate β€” placeholder only
"Grace Bay is routinely voted the Caribbean's best beach. Turks & Caicos is what you get when the Caribbean decided to charge luxury prices for it."
This is a "maybe in our budget, maybe not" pick. T&C doesn't really do cheap. The beach is arguably the best in the Caribbean β€” sand so white it's practically medical, water three shades of turquoise that don't exist on a standard colour wheel. The trade-off: there's no CancΓΊn-grade price competition, and YVR direct flights don't exist (typically connect through Toronto or Miami). Budget reality check: Beaches Turks & Caicos for a family of 4 at 7 nights typically runs $28–35k+ CAD. Real villa rentals can be comparable or cheaper per night but ask you to self-cater.

✈️ Logistics reality

  • No YVR direct β€” typically YVR β†’ Toronto or Miami β†’ Providenciales (PLS)
  • US customs preclearance at PLS is a nice touch on the way home
  • English is the official language; US dollar is the currency
  • British Overseas Territory β€” drive on the left (if renting a car)
  • Passport + 6 months validity required, no visa for Canadians

🏨 Resort shortlist to research

  • Beaches Turks & Caicos β€” flagship family all-inclusive, huge water park
  • Club Med Turkoise β€” adults-only so probably not for us
  • The Palms Turks & Caicos β€” condo-style suites, pool access to Grace Bay
  • The Somerset on Grace Bay β€” luxe, family-friendly, well-reviewed
  • Villa rental β€” $8–15k/week for 4-BR beachfront; add a chef for ~$400/day
